Tik Tok....App Without A Timer

Tik Tok when it first arrived on the mobile scene, it was just another app introduced to the mobile community. However, it had a flavor that appealed to the new millennials. Parents have even got into the groove of it. Jamming, twerking in a non-suggestive, humorous manner, singing three-part harmony and lip-synching with their kids, backing their children up like a backup vocalist has hit the mark with millions of watchers. More on that later. But onlookers would like to know if the app is settling into society permanently? Or is it another passing fancy merely making a pit-stop until the latest upgrade technology drops? That is the mobile-million dollar question.

If you conduct a survey of teens, some pre-teens, and the young adult new Millenials, tik tok has left a lasting impression on its young free account holders. Evidenced by the numbers of tik tok videos in heavy rotation that is being uploaded on a daily basis, is a good benchmark to solidify the app's credibility and ability to deliver on the goods. There is a wide variety of content showcased on the platform in which parents have participated. So there is something clearly to be said about its impact and staying power thus far.

In fact, it appears that it has somewhat bridged the gap between the parental and younger generation by keeping them engaged in a fun-filled video activity, for viewers to look at. People may enjoy watching other people being entertaining in a sanitized, clean way.

According to the Tik Tok Revenue Usage Statistics for 2021, 689 million users are international subscribers. It has not superseded social media giants who are unmatched, but the app has made its presence known while its audience has grown. It clearly shows no visible signs of slowing down. If anything, tik tok and even podcasts seemed to give out-of-work actors and actresses some much-needed visibility and steam. Take singers and performers like Ciara Wilson and her athlete husband, Russell Wilson, who along with their growing family did a soul-train line dance while the singer was actively pregnant. It was sweet, organic, and tongue-in-cheek. Unscripted and going with the flow was what drew people to view. Tik Tok permits people to be vulnerable via video and that element connects human beings. It is relatable to the viewing public.

From a marketing standpoint, there are those who like to promote and build their brand on the platform. However, the true draw for many is the non-work-related clips and piece pictorials where comedic dialogue and dancing rule the app. Now that is not to say that marketers aren't having any success. It is just that viewers were seemingly drawn into the app for a different purpose. Earlier on, I mentioned the flavor that appealed to young viewers. The images, the perimeter, the hue, widening capabilities, and background surround sound have magnetic appeal to a tech-savvy young society.

By all accounts, based on increased viewership the app has experienced, coupled with its global influence, the presence of people on the app; celebrities or everyday viewers, and our society's craving for daily fulfillment, I venture to say, that the app is here to stay. Should those numbers suddenly come to a halt or take a drastic dip and regress which is plausible, then I would gladly revisit my thought process. But in current times, the momentum and impetus of tik tok is speed lightning. That level of authenticity sanctifies it from its app predecessors.

With that said, I believe in my own kind of object permanence. This object which is the app is a keeper, free, fully functioning, and has been the glue to keep people connected in a different way.
